Flying with Steve
Back in the air

After finishing his last flight in the B-52, my son, Grant, and his wife Laramie are moving to Kansas City. Grant will be flying the B2 and be based at Whiteman AFB. Here is a picture
of him (Grant is flying) refueling during his last flight in the BUFF. Interestingly, he was refueled by an Ohio ANG KC-135, the same unit and jet I flew with the 121 ARW at Rickenbacker. #dadbrag
Description: The Aviation Affinity Group at The Summit Outdoors brings together members who share an interest in aviation and flying. Whether you are a licensed pilot, student pilot, or just interested in aircraft and flying activities, this group provides a welcoming space to share aviation knowledge, develop skills, enjoy flying adventures together, and build relationships through shared experiences.
Example Activities:
Fly outs: Group outings to other airports and visiting other aviation affinity groups that are hosting pancake breakfasts, etc…….the classic $100 hamburger.
“Big Adventures”: Longer, more challenging, multi-day flight experiences, often coupled with another activity (ex 1. fly to Grand Canyon National Airport, hike a rim-to-rim, camp and fly back. ex 2. Flights to air museums around the country, ex 3. flight challenges such as flying to Alaska or the Caribbean)
Flying Safaris
Hangar Happy Hours: Casual meetings at a member’s hangars for cocktails and general discussion of the member’s aircraft, etc..
Training experiences: Flying with each other as safety pilot to practice approaches or just glean experience from other aviators.
Welcome to our group Aviation Affinity Group! A space for us to connect and share with each other. Start by posting your thoughts, sharing media, or creating a poll.
This is really exciting. Access to the B2 would be an amazing field trip for our affinity group!
